Thought Of The Day: Being A Woman Can Cost Money
Recently, I bought a $50 gift card to be used at an Aveda Salon for a female friend of mine. It was her birthday. I knew she liked being pampered so I thought this was a perfect gift. I’m not big on buying gift cards for people, but sometimes it is tough to shop for a woman.
I walked into the salon to look at their prices. This was the first time that I had a hard look at the prices of a beauty salon. I flipped through the prices of their services and was floored. To say that I was sticker shocked was an understatement. Here’s why;
- It cost $150 or more for a spa package.
- A 60 minute massage cost $100.
- Facials cost $75 and upwards.
- $45 for a natural pedicure. (gotta have nice feet, ladies!)
- $430 for a “Total Indulgence” spa package. Here is the description; “Let yourself melt away with a Hot Stone Massage, an Essential Facial, your choice of a Back Treatment or Salt Glow, a shampoo, blow dry and makeup touch up.”
$430???
Dude- for that much money, I can buy a new desktop computer. We’ve got starving kids in Africa who could use that money.
I knew being a woman was tough but it hit me then and there that it also costs alot of money too.
Thank God I’m a man.
