Birthday Recap

Absolutely the best birthday celebration that I have ever had. Period.
The best compliment I received was also the most consistent compliment that I received from several friends that night. A few friends came up to me and said;
“Dean-you have such fun, intelligent, and sophisticated friends.”
I appreciated that the most because you don’t know how hard it is to put 15 people at a dinner table and make sure there was enough rapport built b/w everyone and whomever they were sitting next to or across from. I’ve been to plenty of dinner events where there is a disconnect or a lack of rapport b/w some of the attendees. But this one far exceeded the expectations of mine and I suspect quite a few of the attendees. It’s not like everyone knew each other either so this made my job far tougher.
But what was sweeter is that I know a few people definitely wanted to explore and follow up with the possibility of a friendship with some of the other people there. That’s a gratifying feeling knowing that the 3 traits that I prided myself on for these attendees are the same thing that they saw in each other- style, sophistication, and fun. You don’t know how hard it is to find that in friends in a busy town like DC. Hopefully, some of us will be hanging out with each other in the future.
Again, thanks to everyone who showed up for happy hour, dinner, and dancing afterwards. Here are the pics that Lin took of the entire night. This is a flash gallery so if you want to download any of these pics, you have to go to my Flickr gallery here. Select the photo that you want and then just select the “all sizes” icon at the top to download the photo in the size that you want.
And if you’re interested in knowing how my brain was working as I planned this evening, read this post.
